John F. Kacvinsky

Mr. Kacvinsky is a Senior Principal with the firm. Mr. Kacvinsky represents clients in all phases of patent preparation and prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He advises clients on strategic portfolio development to identify and protect technologies that provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace. He also provides counsel in support of licensing activities, due diligence studies, freedom to operate, and patent analysis and opinions.

Mr. Kacvinsky represents clients in a wide variety of electrical, communications and software disciplines, including voice communications, data communications, computer architecture, mobile devices and smart phones, enterprise and productivity software, business analytics software, and automotive safety systems. His graduate studies emphasized wireless communications systems, particularly in the area of wireless communications protocols, cellular voice and data systems, and computer networks. His undergraduate studies focused on artificial intelligence and natural language processing systems.

Mr. Kacvinsky has worked for both national law firms and global companies. Most recently, Mr. Kacvinsky worked for Intel Corporation, where he managed several communications portfolios, conducted patent training and harvesting sessions, made filing decisions to cover strategic technologies, and performed patent analysis in support of licensing, litigation and patent acquisition matters. He managed a multi-million dollar budget and team of prosecuting attorneys both internal and external to the company as they secured patent rights for inventions.

Mr. Kacvinsky is a graduate of the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where he was a member of the Catholic University Law Review. Mr. Kacvinsky has a M.S. in Telecommunications from the University of Pittsburgh, and a B.S. in Computer Science from Duquesne University.

Mr. Kacvinsky is a member of the Pennsylvania and Washington, DC, Bars. He is also registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
